EZ On Coat Pothole Filler®

This type of filling is to be done only in areas where traffic would be driving straight over the patched area and would not be turning the tires a great deal. This patch when finished will be thin but long lasting when applied properly. Again, estimate the amount of material needed and assess the situation for proper fill. Alligator cracks are a series of cracks in close proximity over a given area or they can also be called spider web cracks.

This patching method can also be used where the stone in black top is present but the emulsion has pulled away and is now about 1.125” to 1.5” below the stones. First, sweep and air blow and prime the alligator cracked area that is to be filled. Second, mix the product. Third, pour the fill over the alligator cracked area and squeegee the liquid into the cracks. Use whatever amount of liquid it takes to fill the alligator cracks. When you have squeegeed the liquid over the area, cover that area with the white granule so that a complete patch is formed over the alligator cracks.

DOT–POTHOLE FILLER^© “c” can also be used for cracks that are a minimum of .5” or deeper. First, estimate the amount of material needed for a proper fill. If the crack is narrow you will need to adjust the setting on the machine for a thin mix so that the product is thin enough to pour and penetrate deep into the crack. The next step is to mix the DOT–POTHOLE FILLER^{© “c”} into a smaller, usable quantity. You can use either a 5-quart or a 5-gallon pail, depending on how many cracks you want to fill, and run the mix from the machine into the pail until it is about 75% full. The final step is to pour the mix into the crack and level off. Be sure that you prime the area to be filled and have good contact between the edge of the crack and DOT–POTHOLE FILLER^{© “c”}.

To fill holes and voids in concrete with DOT–POTHOLE FILLER^© “c” the procedures are the same as above. First, estimate the amount of material needed for a proper fill. Second, prepare the material as instructed above for the type of fill application that will be done. Third, change the finish appearance. This can be done several ways. The first way is to paint it using EZ-on Coat®. Other options for creating a temporary cement-like appearance include dusting the wet surface with activator or white granule. If you use EZ-On Coat® Paint, or a mixture including it, apply it after the DOT–POTHOLE FILLER^©”c” has had one hour to set up.  Allow traffic tires to change the final color appearance by opening to traffic.

DOT–POTHOLE FILLER^©”c” can be used for unlevel surfaces such as sidewalks that lift up at one edge .5” to 3” above the other edge. Again, estimate material needed and assess the situation for proper fill of area. Simply mix DOT–POTHOLE FILLER^{© “c”} according to the directions that are provided or mix into another container if less than a full batch is required. Then, pour DOT–POTHOLE FILLER^©”c” onto unlevel surface and smooth over, either with a mixing stick or a cement trowel. If the sidewalk edge is open and has no edge to hold DOT–POTHOLE FILLER^©”c” from running out the end, then a form will be required. Use a piece of thin plywood material and plastic sheets (4mil) to act as a release between DOT–POTHOLE FILLER^©”c” and the form board. Attach the plastic to the board by stapling it to the backside of the form board. Place form boards along the edge of the sidewalk and place stakes on the outside of the form boards. This will hold the form boards in place while applying the DOT–POTHOLE FILLER^©”c”. Trowel into shape. Remove form boards twenty minutes after pouring the product.

The formulation for DOT-Pothole Filler® “c” came about in 1999 and was distributed as New Life® Pothole Filler in 5-gallon buckets. While this was done successfully for many years, the demand for Pothole Filler could not be met simply using buckets. As a result, NLP&E was formed in early 2014 and produced a machine that could dispense liquid pothole fill in a ready-mixed fashion for use instantly in any pothole. In April 2023 the original raw material supplier of the active ingredient closed its door and no substitute was found. After years of research and development and using non-asphalt pothole fill was developed which is cleaner for the installer, the machine, and requires a primer to replace the adhesion the asphalt provided.

EZ On Coat® is now producing bulk materials delivery through the EZ On Coat® 500 Machine which can be used by anyone needing potholes repaired. Each Bulk Unit includes the necessary Liquid Polymers (Part A), Fill (Part B), Activator (Part C), Primer and Cleaner for dispensing up to 500 gallons of pothole fill with specific quantity required to fill a pothole.
